Default Basic handling of large espresso-machines - turn off and leave?

I have a Rancilio classe 8 espresso-machine and was wondering if i have to empty the steam tank every day or if it is ok just to turn it off and leave.

No, you don't have to empty it every day.
It is a good idea to do it 2 or 3 times a week. Otherwise the steaming power will be affected if you don't.

i'm pretty sure you're fine just turning it off and leaving. maybe bi-weekly you could clean it...?
